The importance of having equality

Not going anywhere

I know that this will not be an easy topic, but I still feel the need to write about it. It is time to talk about equal rights, equal human rights. Not so long ago we talked about the most famous figures, but now I think that it is not the end of the topic at all. These days there are so many problems in the topic of equality or should I say in the non-existent equality.

Do you remember how I have talked about Nelson Mandela? I have to admit that he still inspires me, and a person like him would be very relevant in times like these. Honestly, I am just not sure if anyone would spend so many years in prison just to fight for human rights. Maybe that is a part of the problem in our society, as we do not pay enough attention to equal human rights. So, why do we actually need them?

Everyone deserves the same chances

We live in the 21st century. Even saying this should be enough, but sadly it is not because racism is still all around us even if we do not want to think about it. Do not get me wrong, as I know that in many spheres in life everyone is equal. For example, everyone is able to get 100 starburst spins, and that is something to be happy about, but it does not end there. It makes me so angry to know that black people earn less money than white people for the same job. How is this still a thing?

I honestly thought that we move away from this, but that is not the case. Just think about all those confederate symbols in the United States. Guess how many are there of them. Take your time. There are more than 1500 confederate symbols which in some way or for praise the times when slavery was thought by some people to be a completely natural thing. How does that make you feel?

Time for a change

In my opinion, there should be no wage gap between people of different races who do the same job. Sounds like an obvious wish? Well, not to everybody. That is why I am even writing this post, as I want the society to see that there are people who are not happy with the current situation. It makes me so mad to read the news about wage gaps, racial slurs, and similar topics. We are all people, so maybe it is time to start treating each other with the same level of respect?

I guess that my only wish for Christmas this year is to make a change. It is time to start moving forward and thinking about the type of future where everyone is equal. Maybe one day people like me will not have to write posts like these, as there will be total equality. I guess that I can only hope. Until that time comes I will just continue talking about this.
